Description
Bioactive compound-base feed for fish quality
FEEDACTIV focuses on the development of innovative aquaculture feed based on natural bioactive compounds that boost the immune system of farmed fish. The objective of the project is to form an international and inter-sectoral network of organizations working on a joint research programme in the fields of aquaculture and feed formulation. The project aims to improve the quality of farmed fish species by using bioactive agents from alternative raw materials of plant and marine origin as fish feed supplements. More specifically the research and innovation objectives of the project are: 1) To create a new, and more importantly, sustainable source of natural ingredients that can be integrated at an industrial level within the food supply chain. 2) To cover the consumers’ demand for chemical free personalized nutrition meeting the needs of a new developed market of functional food products. 3) To improve the productivity of European aquaculture with environmental, economic and social acceptance.
